The tragic accident claiming the life of Susan Wiley had been classified as just that, an accident. Then why is her husband being charged with her murder? The very thought is ludicrous. But Chief of Police Henry Espinoza doesn't agree, refusing to listen to arguments that Sam's neighbors, Trish Anderson, Edna Radcliff and Millie Morrow present regarding his character and the relationship he had with his wife.
Angry at being dismissed so easily, the women resolve to prove Sam's innocence, not only to help their friend, but to show Henry they are not ready for a nursing home just yet. Using the experience, determination, and pigheadedness their combined ages of 193 years afford them, they rush headlong into danger and intrigue, learning something about themselves during the process. They seem to have a knack for this detective stuff!

This was a change of pace "cozy mystery" for me. No romantic involvements. A little slower pace but still a good story and a fun read. The three main characters are a little older than your average "detectives" but somehow they get the job done. And they are funny while doing it. Their interactions with each other are sometimes laugh-out-loud funny. The mystery finally gets solved and the killer brought to justice and it turns out to be a good plot with some interesting twists. All is well in the end including my downloading of the next "Silver Sleuths" mystery in the series.Product details

Classic Revenge A Silver Sleuths Mystery edition by Mitzi Kelly Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed this book and it kept me engaged in it. It was a fun and entertaining read. Three older women as amateur sleuths, with one being 80 years young being overbearing, one a little younger trying to be nice and please every person along the way and another that would like to strangle the 80 year old at times. They drive the police crazy along with one of the women's husband.
The book was interesting enough to read to the end. Believable situations. Not recommended for non seniors. Humor is understood by the older generation.
Trish, Millie, and Edna are three senior citizens who decide to figure out who killed their neighbor, Sam's, wife. The police think it is Sam who killed her so they are not looking for anyone else. Detective Larry listens to them and Edna's husband, Joe, helps them. They go about it in a weird way, which can be a little off putting, but it's still a good mystery.
Classic Revenge begins quickly with a murder. The book then slows and it takes the reader a while to adjust to the fact that another character is narrating the story. This was a bit confusing; however, after adjusting to a different point of view and becoming acquainted with the characters and the setting, again the story moves with ease. The book's characters often get into sticky, though humorous situations, and comes to an appropriate ending. Overall, Classic Revenge is a good read.
I love mysteries and this sounded like a really fun book. The idea was a good one but unfortunately the writing bogged down several times and just didn't seem to flow as well as I would have liked. The characters were mostly well developed but sometimes annoying. The story idea was fairly good but it was too easy to guess what was going to happen next. I like to be surprised by twists and turns in mysteries. The book was okay but I don't think I would read any more if this is a series. Too bad, because the idea of three "older" women trying to solve a murder to help their innocent friend sounded like a lot of fun.
I would have probably given it 3 1/2 stars if I could, but since overall I enjoyed the book, I rounded up. Although the characters were interesting, they were either one dimensional (always did the same thing) or contrary (would always [at least that what the story said] tell her husband things, but then was the one to hide things from him). Others mentioned the randomness of what they told/held to/from the police. I also found that strange (just like the woman who all of a sudden held things from her husband - it was just plain confusing!). Others mentioned fluff filler. I understand what they meant, but it actually didn't bother me. Sometimes that about the only thing which helped me like the characters - I could relate to them! All in all, an enjoyable book. I may try one more to see if the series is worthwhile.
This was cute, and a east read. I just wished that I liked a few of the characters more. I found one of them to be very unlikeable, which almost ruined it for me, but I finished it any way. But besides that, it was a fun book to read. Just not sure if I will read another book if it has the same characters in it.
